With the goal of enhancing the experience of visiting CHaRM and adding some visual excitement to the neighborhood, Live Thrive engaged a local artist to paint a colorful mural on one of the 40-ft. shipping containers at CHaRM. The mural was painted by local artist Pamela Tellez Coria. For 23-year-old Coria, the mural was her first solo project after assisting artist and activist Yehimi Cambrón. While creating her original work, Coria practiced reuse by sourcing materials that had been dropped off at CHaRM, incorporating recycled paint and mixing colors in plastic containers she found on-site.
Coria hails from Nezahualcóyotl, Mexico. When she was 4 months old, her family immigrated to the United States, and she was raised in Atlanta. She is in the process of applying for DREAMer status. Coria’s viral makeup artwork has been covered by various websites including 60 SecDocs, Yahoo and Insider. In 2017, she created a platform as an influencer, working with brands like KVD Vegan Beauty and Milani Cosmetics. She aims to prioritize intersectional activism and her Latinx culture in her work.
